Thermal-to-work and thermal-to-thermal recovery compression heat pumping.
Number: pap. n. 162

Summary
Recent papers introduce the thermal-to-work and thermal-to-thermal recovery compression methods ( TWRC and TTRC , respectively), in order to increase the effectiveness of a mechanical vapour compression (mvc) refrigeration process. This work continues the introduced methods research, studying theirs applications in the mvc heat pumping. The single- and two-stage refrigeration and heat pump applications are modeled. In case of TTRC , the coabsorbent technology is considered. The methods model results show that mvc single-stage refrigeration COPc is by 6 to 12 % better than a standard configuration cycle (without TWRC and TTRC , but used currently), for condenser temperature Tc = 35°C and evaporator temperature Te = 5 to -25°C, and in case of the two-stage refrigeration the COPc is by 7 to 18 percent better than a two-stage cycle, but by 50 to 80 percent better than a standard configuration cycle, for Tc = 35 to 30°C and Te = - 30 to -60°C. The methods model results, obtained for singleand double-stage combined cooling and heating, show that the heating COPh increases by ~ 2 to 5% and up to 30%, respectively, as compared to the standard configuration cycle, for Tc = 51 to 91°C and Te = -10 to 10°C.
