Summary
The thermodynamic properties of slush hydrogen can be significantly improved compared with liquid hydrogen at normal boiling point, thus it will expand the range of deep space exploration. In this paper, a two-dimensional transient model based on Euler-Euler two-fluid method was developed to study the fluid dynamic behaviours and particle precipitation characteristics of slush hydrogen as a solid-liquid two-phase mixture. The influence of particle size was discussed through variable condition simulations (dp=0.5 ~ 0.02mm). The numerical results showed that the particle deposition phenomenon is gradually weakened with the decrease of particle diameter of solid hydrogen. It was found that there is a critical particle diameter for precipitation of slush hydrogen, which is about 0.02mm. There is no significant deposition phenomenon with the particle size of 0.02mm. The numerical results could provide a reference for the efficient application of slush hydrogen.
