Refrigeration technology consumes about 15% of all electricity consumed worldwide. One of the major applications of refrigeration technology is the maintenance of temperature-controlled conditions required to maintain food quality, from harvest to domestic storage. This temperature continuum concept is generally known as "cold chain".
